VEGETATION OF A SCHOOLYARD IN TOURS
This primary school wanted to de-mineralize and green its courtyard to offer students a more welcoming and pleasant space. The objective was to break away from the exclusively asphalted appearance of the area and create real green spaces, while preserving safety and conviviality. We took up this challenge by first proposing aluminum edging to green the courtyard and create relaxation areas, but also by offering custom-designed bottomless planters for this project.
Seating made of European black locust
- We participated in the de-paving of the courtyard of this school in Tours with aluminum planters to green the area and create shaded seating areas.
- To promote relaxation, we have added seating made of raw robinia wood around the edges of the retaining walls. This material choice offers good outdoor resistance. The corners, on the other hand, have been equipped with rubber protectors, ensuring optimal safety in a school environment.
An ambitious greening project for summer 2024
In 2024, the school management called on our services to manufacture aluminum coasters in order to Greening the schoolyard and y Bring more freshness.
The objective was to revitalize the spaces and improve the well-being of the children within the establishment.
The planned layout is organized around an existing metal structure, which allows for shade cloths to be stretched. We have arranged our Aluminum casing and us bottomless bins all around, in order to create shaded spaces with seating and planted areas.
This new organization allows to structure the yard while also increasing areas for relaxation and socializing. The presence of plants also helps to make the environment more pleasant on a daily basis and to enhance the landscape quality of the establishment.
Designed to blend seamlessly with the existing surroundings, this development accompanys the transformation of the court in a more welcoming space adapted to students' needs.
It thus helps to make the courtyard a real living space, designed for the daily comfort and well-being of students.
A secure and sustainable installation
Our aluminum edging has been manufactured using very precise folding processes to ensure the highest quality products possible. The bottomless beds and islands created with the edging facilitate plant rooting and better drainage. The result is landscaping that is resistant to both bad weather and the heavy daily foot traffic of students.
A positive assessment: Comfort and conviviality rediscovered
According to initial feedback, students and teachers particularly appreciate these shaded areas, which provide a space to relax and socialize outside of the classroom. The presence of greenery also helps to cool the courtyard and improve the school environment.
To take this approach further Greening the schoolyard, the establishment is already planning to add other plant species and, why not, new urban furniture modules to extend the experience.
